1. Krabi Town Walking Street
Overview: Krabi Walking Street, aka Thanon Khon Dern in Thai, is your initiation into the markets of Krabi. It’s one of the most popular places to visit, whether you’re shopping or not. Prices all over the market are low and they can get even lower when you bargain with every shop keeper there. Yes, bargaining is expected and even encouraged.
What to Buy: This market offers just about everything. Sample some street food or buy yourself a pair of elephant pants.
Location: Maharaj Soi 8, Pak Nam in the heart of Krabi Town. Direction.
Opening Hours: About 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
2. Vogue Department Store
Overview: This department store is home to designer labels and Western brand-name goods. It’s also crammed with beauty and cosmetics counters. The prices are fixed and since you’re buying name brand products, you can expect the prices to be a bit steep.
What to Buy: Denim from Wranglers, Lee or Levi's on the upper levels.
Location: Maharaj Road, Pak Nam. Direction.
Opening Hours: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Thursday, and 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
3. Outlet Village
Overview: A popular Krabi shopping centre with over 100 brands. Here, you can find the top of the line athletic and swimwear at factory prices, which means a bargain for us tourists. It’s also worth mentioning that if you spend over 5,000 baht there, you can claim VAT at the airport when returning home. Be sure to ask about that.
What to Buy: Adidas, Nike and Vans shoes at discount prices.
Location: Phetkasem Road. Direction.
Opening Hours: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
4. Maharaj Market
Overview: The only dedicated morning market on the list! This spot is full of action and will engage all your senses. You can find every sort of fresh food and clothing here at wholesale prices. There’s also ready to eat meals and takeaway at a minimal price.
What to Buy: Tropical fish, fruit and vegetables.
Location: Maharaj Soi 9, Pak Nam. Direction.
Opening Hours: From 4 a.m. until noon, although things slow down by 9.
5. Ao Nang Walking Street
Overview: Also known as Catalunya Walking Street and
important addition to the Krabi shopping area. Located about 700 m from Holiday Inn Resort Krabi Ao Nang Beach. It’s a great spot to hang out and grab food or drinks.
What to Buy: Canvas oil paintings and pop art by artist Watana Pradit.
Location: The three main entrances are along Beach Road, next to Sitti Cafe, and by the optometrist on Ao Nang Road. Direction.
Opening Hours: Every day from 9 a.m. until 11 at night.
6. Chao Fah Night Market
Overview: Another evening market in Krabi Town with rows of fantastic street food vendors. There are a lot of tables and chairs, so many locals come here to relax in the evenings. It’s Krabi’s largest night market, selling authentically local dishes that really give you an accurate experience of southern Thailand.
What to Buy: Pad Thai and fresh seafood for dinner.
Location: Chao Fah Pier on Kongka Road. Direction.
Opening Hours: Five o’clock every night until midnight.
7. Nopparat Thara Plaza
Overview: As one of the newer shopping areas, this plaza is the most contemporary and stylish. Located just in front of Holiday Inn Resort Krabi Ao Nang Beach, this is one of the rare plazas with beachfront view. Although it is small with about 20 stores, you can find everything you need from shops, exchange currency centre, banks, bars, restaurants and food courts. If you look for a quiet, peaceful place to shop and hang out this is the place for you.
What to Buy: Beachwear, sunglasses and some homemade ice cream.
Location: Along Nopparat Thara Beach Road in Ao Nang. Direction.
Opening Hours: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
8. Klong Muang Sunday Market
Overview: A vibrant and unique complex with boutiques and small businesses, plus some great cafes and restaurants nearby. It’s very close to Klong Muang School and a beach, which adds some beauty to the scenery.
What to Buy: Colourful and eclectic souvenirs and antiques.
Location: North of Klong Muang Beach. Direction.
Opening Hours: From 10 a.m. until late.
9. Railay Walking Street
Overview: This 70-metre long lane is the place to be when on the Railay peninsula. It’s filled with all sorts of things to check out, like a rock climbing shop and a pancake shack. There’s plenty of beachwear in stock as well.
What to Buy: Fruit shakes, jewellery, and a massage.
Location: Railay West. Direction.
Opening Hours: All day, every day.
10. Ao Nang Landmark
Overview: This is Krabi’s most all-inclusive waterfront community, which means that you can find more of what you want here than anywhere else in Krabi. This walkway offers every store, restaurant, and amenity you can think of. It also features a beautiful view of the Naparat Thara Beach which extends to a whopping 88,000 square meters.
What to Buy: Anything! Everything!
Location: Nopparat Thara, Beach Road, Tambon Ao Nang. Direction.
Opening Hours: 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
